Cancelling a Subscription
As a subscriber to Backstage, you are free to cancel your subscription at any time.
User Cancellation
To cancel your own subscription, simply navigate to your account settings page and click on where it says "Turn Auto-Renew Off" under your subscription info. Self service cancellation can only be used in the following scenarios:
- If your subscription is online (print subscribers will need to contact customer service)
- If your subscription is not currently overdue
- If you are cancelling using our website (you can not cancel on the app on your iPhone)
Cancellation via Customer Service
Any subscriber (regardless of scenario) can cancel by contacting our customer service department at any time. You can send an email to customers@backstage.com, you can click on the black chat widget at the bottom of the page to speak with a real human representative in real time (providing it is during our operating hours: Mon - Fri 10am to 6pm ET), or click here to contact us via web form. Be sure to include the email address the account is associated with, and clarify if you have more than one active subscription.
Cancellation Policies
Cancellation will be effective the same day you make the request, but you will retain access to the paid-only features for the period you have already paid for. For instance, if you have a six month subscription, and you cancel on the third month, you will still have three months worth of service left on your subscription. Once that period is over, your access will expire and you will not be charged again unless you resubscribe.
*Note: Customers who have subscribed via iTunes on our app for iPhone will need to cancel their subscription with iTunes directly.
Refund Policy
As stated in our terms of service, users must cancel their subscriptions before renewal if they do not wish to be charged. To help in this endeavor, Backstage sends out an email notice when their renewal is one month away on both annual and semi-annual subscriptions (no such notice exists for monthly subscriptions).
In the event that you request cancellation after-hours, as long as the request came in before you were billed in our system we will honor the timestamp on the request and refund you.
Here at Backstage we understand that sometimes life gets in the way and people get busy. That is why we will honor refund requests on annual and semi-annual subscriptions up to 10 days from the date of billing. To request a refund please contact us at customers@backstage.com, use our handy web form, or click on our chat widget to speak with a representative.
Monthly subscriptions are ineligible for refunds, except in cases of double billing or other clerical errors.

Deleting Your Profile
At this point in time, we don't yet have a public-facing way for users to delete their profiles. You are able to make your profile private by following the steps listed in this article. If you would like your profile and account to be deleted, please send us a request at customers@backstage.com.
