As a Backstage subscriber, you'll receive several different types of email notifications from us about our service, promotions, your account, and several other topics. They fall under the three following categories:
- Product-based notifications - These are alerts about your saved searches, notifications of new messages from talent or casting directors, invitations to apply to roles, and Backstage Community posting announcements.
- Marketing emails - This includes special offers and the daily newsletter showing castings near you.
- Transactional emails - Renewal notifications, payment failures, price changes to subscriptions, password reset emails, etc.
Should you feel overwhelmed with the various communications you're receiving from us, we offer you the ability to control what's coming in to your inbox. That way you'll get the messages you want, and none of the ones you don't.
Marking Emails as Spam
It is important that you do not mark our emails as spam. Sending Backstage emails to your spam folder will cause you to miss important billing information and auto-renewal reminders, notifications about messages from casting directors pertaining to projects you have applied to, and casting alerts.
If you notice any unexpected interruption in emails, please be sure to contact us immediately so we can assist you.
Please be sure to add our email address to your email contact list so that our emails are never auto-directed to the spam folder. Simply add email@example.com to the address book and our emails should be recognized as friendly and directed to the proper folder.
Adjusting Product-Based Notifications
If you wish to no longer receive casting alerts, messages alerts, or other product-based notifications you can deactivate them by selecting Account Settings from the My Account drop-down menu.
Once there, select Notifications.
On this page, you will see boxes that are checked off under the heading Receive Emails For:
Deselect any box that you do not wish to receive alerts for.
Backstage Message Notifications
In addition, you can set your message notification schedule in the same interface. This will determine how often you receive emails about messages sent to you on Backstage.com.
*If you do not wish to receive any email notifications, it's imperative that you unselect all of the boxes AND set the Message Notification Frequency to 'Never'.
You can change your email notification preferences at any time, so should you desire to start receiving emails again simply come back to this interface and re-check the boxes and/or set the frequency from the dropdown.

Adjusting Marketing Emails
If you wish to unsubscribe from our marketing emails, please open one of the emails and scroll down to the bottom of the email until you reach this footer:
You have the option of:
1) opting out a specific type of marketing email or
2) unsubscribing from all marketing emails.
If you want to opt out of a specific type of marketing email, click on the top link "email preferences". This will open up a list of all the different types of email lists. You can either uncheck or check the boxes depend on whether you want to still receive them.
When you're done, be sure to click on the 'Update email preferences' button to save your changes.
If you do not wish to receive any marketing emails, click on the second link, 'Unsubscribe from all future emails' which will take you to this page:
Once you click on the button, you will see a confirmation message "You have successfully unsubscribed from all email communications". You're all set!
*Please note that if you are a Backstage subscriber with a current subscription, opting out of these emails will also prevent the delivery of the Digital Edition. To opt out of all other emails while staying subscribed to the digital editions, please follow the steps for opting out of a specific type of marketing email.
