Only users in the United States aged 16 and older can create and manage accounts on Backstage. Profiles may be created for children under the age of 16, but a parent or legal guardian must create and be the the holder of the account, and must manage all communication and use of the account.
This rule is intended to protect the safety and privacy of children on the platform, make sure parents are involved, and to comply with laws in the United States and European Union.
How this affects new users:
- New users must verify their age at sign-up.
- Parents or Legal guardians of children under 16 will be allowed to create and manage an account that contains a talent profile for their child.
- The parent or legal guardian will be required to use their own name and email address during the registration process but will have the option to set their child’s name as the “stage name” when creating a profile.
Safety is always our primary concern at Backstage, and the implementation of these procedures are designed to be as unobtrusive as possible while still ensuring parental consent and complying with important legislation.
As always if you should have any questions or concerns regarding these procedures please contact firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll be happy to assist you.
